Welcome Mike !!!! I'm new too...

about your question .... I have the split circle, I don't know which is the
model but it is very bright !

If it is an used camera, have u check the Prism and the mirror for dust or
something that could make it less brighter ????

once again welcome !

MAX

Subject: [OM] new member has question re focus screens

Greetings from sunny South Wales.

I am new to the list - as indeed I am new to Olympus cameras. I have owned
just about every make and model in the last 20 years, but recently decided
that I wanted something small, well designed and mechanical, rather than one
of the heavy electronic bricks with thundering zoom lenses, so I have just
acquired an attractive OM-1n. It's a lovely camera.

Now to my question: (by the way I have tried searching the archive on this
without much success).

The only draw back with my "new" camera is that the viewfinder is a little
dark. I have seen OM1s with nice bright viewfinders, so I guess it's simply
a matter of changing the screen. Can anyone recommend a nice bright focus
screen ? (I only use a modest focal range - 28mm to 135mm). I had rather
hoped to buy an Olympus one as the Beattie screens seem quite expensive in
the UK, but might be persuaded otherwise if any of you experts recommend
otherwise. Also, I have read various things about incorrect lightmeter
readings. My camera appears to agree with the readings from my Contax 139Q,
although I would doubt if the OM1n has had any modification done. Will a
brighter screen affect the light meter ?

thanks in advance for your help,
Mike.
