Hi!
    If you know the language of Goethe, there was a tripod test in "Color Foto"
9/99 . In Polish photography news group the best opinion has Manfrotto tripods 
esp.
the model MA455B it is relatively cheap (~400 PLN = 100 USD) it weight is 2.5 
kg.
