I believe that the uni-lock is a Benbo with a slight change in design. I have
a monopod from Unilock that is the best I have ever handled. My tripod is a
Benbo which has seen about 10 years service. I also have Bogan in monopods
and tripods. The Benbo/unilock is the best on location and everyplace. I have
fitted them with the Bogan attachments (the joystick on the Benbo and a clamp
for the rectangular plate on the monopod). I have read many threads about
tripods over the years. Each person has individual requirements that don't
necessarily fit another person's needs...i.e. weight and ease of operation.
These tools fit my needs for the ability to set up and provide solid support
no matter what the terrain or configuration of the church pews. IMHO, light
tripods are usually flimsy and are often an invitation to falling camera
syndrome. The added weight provides stability that far outweighs the
momentary convenience of light weight. If you really want to be portable with
a small camera like the OM, get a Leitz tabletop tripod and ball head. This
is one of the most useful gadgets ever invented for use anywhere, anytime,
small, and easy to carry. I like the Uni-lock improvements on the Benbo bent
bolt design. If the Benbo ever fails, which is unlikely even under hard use,
I would immediately replace it with the Uni-lock. Either is really an
investment in many years of service.
I hope this has been some help. I am fairly opinionated about equipment and
especially supports as I have been at this game a long time and been through
many brands. These, once again IMHO, are the best for my use.
