OOPs
Got it wrong but in the right family.  It's Dracunculus vulgaris, aka as
Arum dracunculus, common name dragon arum.  It's from the Meditterranean
region and also gets quite large, but not 2 meters, and has evolved to
attract carrion feeders just like the giant arum.
