Question: would their scanner be a good deal at a "fire sale" price? Do
the Microtek device drivers work with the Polaroid version?

Thanks for the info. Damn shame. But Polaroid has had seriously
bad times before and recovered. Hopefully the legends of the past
will serve them well.
They are already offering a substantial rebate on the SS4000. I am
told that, including the rebate, you can get one for about $7000 if
you look around. I have not verified that. Rebate info is supposed
to be on their web site.
I don't know whether the drivers from Microtek work with the
Polaroids, but Vuescan works fine and so does Silverfast. They both
continue to develop for popular discontinued models.
This is from the scanner list I am on:
B&H (for example) has the SS4000 for $889US. Since Polaroid is offering a
$200 rebate , then the final cost to you would be $689. Tempting, no?
