For the record I think that this thread has gone beyond being of public
interest however...
My original intention was to mention that I found Larry's comments in
isolation to be rather funny and that the negative response to them was
perhaps overstated. Following that, most of the list has replied tending to
indicate there is a long history to this interchange. Being a relatively
new list member I was not aware of this and made that clear in my original
post.
I think I've explained the nature of my other comments regarding
commercialism on public mailing lists. Its OK to a point but gets annoying
when many questions by newcomers are met with "Yes da da da and I just
happen to have one right here for $X... and I'll throw in a set of steak
knives."
But then we have to have non-contributory inflammatory replies by Les
Clark... but that's another story. Les has had a history of having
something against my posts. He never makes it quite clear what his problem
is or what axe he has to grind with me. I think what started this thread
was something about "garbage"... about the only thing that has resulted
from his 'contributions' is a message filter that sends garbage mails by
certain Les Clark into my trash mailbox.
