[OM] "Auto" macro tubes?

Subject: [OM] "Auto" macro tubes?

I've just picked up a set of used macro tubes; is there any way to tell if
they're "auto" tubes or not? Looking at the back of the lens, I would guess
that auto tubes have mechanisms in there to let the body of the camera shut
down the aperture of the lens, and non-auto ones don't; the tubes I have
don't have anything that would let this happen, so I'm guessing they're not
auto.

If this is correct, what am I missing by having non-auto tubes? The only
thing I can see that I would be losing is that the "program" functionality
on my OM-2S won't be able to close down the aperture -- that's the only time
I can think of where the camera drives the lens's aperture; metering et al
just goes on how much light comes through the lens, which is related to what
the aperture on the lens is set to, but it doesn't require the lens to
"tell" the camera directly what the aperture is.

Am I completely off-base here? It sounds sensible to me; the om-sif info
doesn't really mention this one way or another.
