I think this wide 'adapter ring' actually is the protective cap which goes
on the adapter tube when there is no T2 adapter mounted (as delivered from
Hama). The Hama catalogue indeed shows such a cap. The Olympus eyepiece lays
upside down on this cap. It is not the P5x, since that one has a black rim
of 1.5 cm on the top. It is probably the H (Huygenian) 5x.

The way you are supposed to use it, is to mount the T2 adapter, throw away
the cap which now has become useless, detach the eyepiece adapter from the
tube (lower part), clamp this on the microscope, insert the eyepiece, then
clamp the tube back on the eyepiece adapter and mount the camera.
