Hi, Everyone

I'm sorry to raise this unpleasant subject and I promise to shut up
hereafter. Tom rightly said that it should now be dropped; however,
this list is important to me and I'm sorry to see the damage that has
been caused. So, I want to comment, albeit belatedly.

I didn't get around to reading the digests for quite a few days and I'm
still catching up now. I am horrified to see what was happening about
the middle of this month. To say it's unique in the history of the list
is an understatement! Reading posts on the list from that time was a
chilling experience for me. I guess I'm not the only one to have been
affected like that, as it seems to have resulted in the loss of a few
valued list members.

Tom said "Oben's first comments were a little mean, but he didn't lose
it until he got hundreds of fairly mean spirited emails ..." However,
I think Oben's true nature emerged only when people finally decided
they'd had enough of his offensive behaviour and started to retaliate,
admittedly some more forcefully than others. Normally mild list members
showed their teeth but I think he only got what he deserved. I'm glad I
was incommunicado during that time, or I might have added a fews choice
words of my own and upset innocent list members unnecessarily.

Oben eventually exhibited characteristics that I consider to be those
of a psychopath (or sociopath, if you prefer, as someone else said).
Such a person has no conscience, seeks to control other people, cares
nothing for society and is capable of extremely vindictive, even
violent behaviour if crossed. One should not underestimate the danger
of such a person. I think that guy is a time-bomb and I, for one, would
NOT like to be in the vicinity when he finally explodes.

In conclusion, I think list members were extremely patient and showed
exemplary politeness. I don't think list members "lost it", I think
Oben did: a long time ago, if he ever had it to start with! I'm
serious! I hope, if this sort of thing ever happens again, that the
perp. will be jumped on quickly.

Regards,

=====
