Regarding non-Olympus OM-dedicated flashes, I recently acquired a couple from
UK-eB*y; a Cullman 220D and a Cobra D650. The Cullman is about the same size as
a T20, but upright, with a Guide no. of 22 (metric) at 100asa. It takes 4 AA's,
and has test/ready and flash OK lights.
The Cobra is interesting. It comes with a handle (like a cheap BG2) to take the
flash off camera. The handle has a built-in cable that connects to an Olympus
hotshoe (e.g. shoe4). The flash itself can be used directly on a hotshoe, or on
the handle. The head rotates about 300 degrees, angles up to 90 degrees, and
zooms from 28mm to 85mm. For auto and manual, pushbuttons are used to select
f-stop and film speed, which are shown on a large LCD screen (illuminated as
required). The LCD screen turns itself off after 3-4 minutes inactivity. Manual
output can be adjusted down to 1/16. Guide number at 28mm setting is 22-23, and
at 85mm is 45 (metric, 100asa). For all this and a Shoe4 (!) I paid just over
30GBP (45 USD). Obviously not a system flash like my T32/BG2, but very handy
(and light!). I may keep it...

Brian,

Thanks for ALL that information! It'll take me some time to absorb all this
info, decide on whether or not I *really* want to go to another 3rd party
flash or not, and to shop around. I'll definitely print this out and have
it handy when shopping.
