Bill,
It really depends on your expected use. It it's for web use, or emailing
family, you don't 'need' the 4000 dpi. I have the Scanwit 2740S and find it
to be more than effective for those uses, and even printing up to 8x10. The
difference IS discernable. If you want absolutely crisp 8x10's and more, or
enlarging small parts of the photos to 8x10, go for the resolution. I'm
happy with my Scanwit. Since I can't print larger than letter size, I'm
happy. The extra resolution would not go unappreciated.
