Scott Gomez asked about "nose grease". My first exposure to this term was
in the black and white darkroom in high school I was told to wipe my finger
along the outside of my nose to collect the light oil, to fill scratches on
negs. Back then I used paper envelopes for my negs, no cotton gloves, and
moved from one frame to another by tilting open the two aluminum halves of
the (Omega?) carrier and _sliding_ the negative longitudinally. All this
probably goes a long way to explaining why I had scratches to begin with.
(Sheesh!)
Too bad my advisor was into repair rather than prevention. :)
