Hi Pete:

1. Try another set of batteries. I would use Everready "357"' type batteries.
2. Check contacts for corrosion, and clean contact points.
3. Check the tightness of the screws holding the baseplate on. If they become
loose, the camera will have intermittant operation.

  Hi Everyone

I have not posted to this group before, and I do so in my hour of need (or
rather my day of frustration).

My beautiful OM4Ti has developed a problem I can't seem to fathom. Even
though the batteries are new (and yes, I changed them!) on firing the shutter,
whatever mode the camera is in, the mirror locks up withoiut the shutter
curtain exposing the film. The only way to return the mirror (and reset the
camera) is to turn it to mechanical 1/60th second, and/or 'B'. It does this
with brand new SR44s in it, with a Zuiko lens fitted, and in both manual and
auto mode.

I am used to this happening on this camera (and an OM2-SP) when the batteries
are weak, but all the batteries I've tried work fine on other Olympus camera.
If I didn't know the batteries were new and strong, I'd have thought it was a
battery problem, except all the metering systems work fine and the camera still
beeps at me regularly!

Have I completely missed something here or am I looking at a very expensive
repair job?

Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

  Pete Yardley
