Is there any Olympus gear you're not familiar with, Hans? ;)

: I bought an Olympus C-35 microscope camera (do I need to explain why?!!)

Yes :) An OM-4 with 1-12 screen and adapters is so much easier to use with a
microscope because of the built-in meter, mirror lock-up (with self-timer)
and long auto-exposure.

: but even though I used one in university (20 years ago!!)..I can't
remember
: how it works!

Is is complete? You need an 'exposure body' (which is an adapter with
built-in manual shutter and focusing viewer), an adapter to connect this to
the microscope and hold the eyepiece, a low-magnification eyepiece
(preferrably a photo eyepiece) and a special photomicroscopic light meter
with probe that can be inserted in the exposure body. There's also a swith
in the exposure body to let all light to the viewer, to the camera, or to
the opening that accepts the light meter probe.

The first thing to look after is the shutter. With the years it tends to get
stuck; it also rests in vibration-damping foam which rots away after 15
years or so.

The C-35 itself is like a modified Trip 35 without viewer, lens or shutter.
Operation should be easy to understand. You wind the film, cock the shutter,
focus, determine and set shutter speed using the light meter, set the switch
in the exposure body to let all the light go to the camera, use a cable
release to trigger the shutter.
