I use a length of 1/4" dowel (available for less than a dollar at a
hardware store) cut off 6-8" and sharpen in a pencil sharpener.  Makes a
very handy tool. The tip can be flattened into a chisel shape with a
pocket knife or you can soften the tip into a tiny fibrous brush.  Need
a new tip, just resharpen.
