When I first saw that my 300/4.5 stopped beyond
infinity a couple of weeks ago I read that this was a
problem with some lenses that required a removal of
the knurled ring and a tightening of screws. I just
read the manual on eSIF though and it says that
Olympus did this on purpose "so that you can precisely
focus on infinity at low or high tempurature." I have
one thing to say about this. Huh? I mean I know metal
expands and contracts with tempurature, but enough to
throw the focus off?

Probably the problem is in both glass and metal.
