 http://www.danielmitchell.net/gallery/index.php?currDir=./bw has some black
and white shots of my nephew/niece. I didn't do anything particularly
special there, to be honest;

 Ilford 400 SP4 film, no filters, no background selection particularly,
available light and a bit of off-camera flash for the one shot, 50/1.4 lens,
approach was sit around chatting with camera in hand, and be ready to take
shots.. (oh, and I was using direct but off-camera flash for that one shot,
and it didn't seem to be a problem at all).
