I think they did that already -- it's called the OM-3 <g>.
Seriously though, it would probably be easier to just upgrade. Same function
(plus more), with LEDs.

In fact the only thing I am missing on my manual om-1 is a possibility to
see the lightmeter indicator (or whatever it's called in English - I mean
the thing you'd see on the left of the finder if you coould see it) in near
dark, which is killing me and as well as my available light portraits. Has
anyone ever thought of painting the thing with some fluorescent paint or
maybe replacing it with LEDs (three - over/under/right would be perfectly
enough).
