Better to use a hankerchief or bit of duct tape something... the flash's
light has a full spectrum of wavelengths (it mirrors sunlight) including UV,
so you could get sunburn (really!) if you flashed your fingers repeatedly.

You're pretty close to the light source when you cover it with a finger, so
the relative UV exposure with repeated doses could be high even in the short
flash duration.
