 I know someone who's got a two-lens camera for taking 'stereo' photos;
instead of producing two images and having a viewer (or going appropriately
cross-eyed to see them) you send the negatives off to a specialist processor
who then turns them into those zigzag-surfaced "3-d" images that they used
to use on postcards/rulers/other kids things.

 (I'm not describing it very well; the stuff where you have one image, you
tilt the whatever-it-is to another angle and the image changes to another
one -- I had things when I was a kid which was a dinosaur that changed to
its skeleton, for instance. If you don't have two entirely separate images,
but the same thing from two angles, they give a reasonable impression of
being 3-d)

 Not the highest image quality, but as you're viewing the final photo
through a bit of serrated plastic, that's not really a big deal.

 -- dan (sorry, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the company
that made these; if I could, I'd have bought one myself..)
