I use a 50/3.5 alot for a standard lens.  In fact I am going to sell my 
50/1.4.  The only thing I find that is somewhat negative about it is that it 
genereates rather harsh bokeh.  All in all, though, it is so sharp and 
contrasty that I like the results.  Now a 50/2, that would be real cool.  
Maybe someday ...
