Ok, I'm not Tom, but yes the radioactive 55/1.2 has a yellow color cast 
that is noticable through the viewfinder, so yes it does affect the color 
balance.  Old 50/1.4's also used a radioactive element and will give a 
yellow cast as well, but since they only used one radioactive element 
(the 55/1.2 has two), it's not quite as bad.

Remember that not all 55/1.2's are radioactive.  I don't remember for 
sure, but I don't think that any black-nosed 55/1.2's have been found to 
be radioactive, and I don't know if any silver-nosed non-radioactive 
versions are around.
