I have watching - and bidding on an Olympus OM1n on e*bay.Gave up as the
price seemed to be getting silly . e*bay 1284903784 Olympus Om1n body
only - mint -currently $217.50. Looks good but hot shoe looks cracked.
Instead popped into a local camera shop and found an unmarked Om1n for £80 /
$115. I cannot find a mark on the body , the shutter works like a dream,
and best of all I had it in straight swop for a p*ntax K1000 !
There are a few minor problems that I was aware of when I made the trade ,
but a CLA. with John Hermanson next summer will give me a mint camera at a
realistic price.
The foam is shot, the meter gives proper readings - but sometimes a lag is
apparent, and the rewind lever is on a hair trigger and needs to be held
while winding film. The hotshoe is functional, but has started to crack so
the dealer will get me a replacement at cost.
Even allowing for the cost of a CLA , I feel I have got a good deal. The
P*entax body was given to me and has been sitting for ages unloved in a
drawer. It has gone in a good cause!
