O.K., thanks Mike. Republic also has "Prospector Days". Talk about
"characters". One year my brother in law, who was teaching school there at
the time, said during the parade (of miners, loggers, cowboys, mountain men,
drunks, hippies), "See that guy over there? He eats raw bear meat!".
Republic is still like the old west. Complete with Colville Indians. Just
more F250s and Dodge Rams than horses. A trip to town always makes us laugh
and shake our head.
