[OM] Proposal for the digest members

Subject: [OM] Proposal for the digest members

Hello all

I have been subscribing to the digest list for some time now, and first I
didn't like it
very much but now I've really come to like the way my inbox isn't filled with
posts any
more. No disregard to the anyone here on the Oly list, but to have 3-5,000
unread posts is
staggering to say the least. There are a few drawbacks like the amount of HTML
in some of
the posts, and the somewhat awkward way my own posts are displayed (a "=" after
each line
for instance?).

Another problem is when I want to answer someone. There really ought to be a
simpler way
than having to delete all the other irrelevant posts.

But now to my proposal. When I have pressed the reply button the subject on the
reply is
automatically displayed as "Re: olympus-digest VX #XXXX". THIS DOESN'T SAY
ANYTHING ABOUT
THE SUBJECT OF THE MESSAGE! Please excuse me for shouting, but with a little
copying and
pasting this has not been a big problem for me. I just copy the subject of the
original
post and paste it in place of the meaningless "digest number" subject. Now, am
I wrong in
doing this? Tell me what you all think. Of course, in this way my post doesn't
say that
I'm only a digest member, but does that really matter? With my method it should
be easier
to see and find late answers coming from the digest members, and if nothing
else it should
make them feel like they can participate more in the list discussions. Comments
are
welcome.

Best regards,

Per Nordenberg
