Oops, I started a thread I didn't mean to. I should have mentioned these
were grocery store alkalines and they were NOT new. Pulled them out of
something else. In my haste, I forgot to have charged NiMH ready.  I have no
doubt a good set will last much, much longer.  I did, however, just order
some more, as my current NiMH are well used.

Olympus does offer a Lithium Polymer battery that screws into the tripod
mount.  I suspect it lasts forever, but I'll be happy with the AAs.  The
microdrive uses more power too, so when I am power-challenged, I'll use
flash cards.

I am also surprised that the other models don't have a 'real' viewfinder.
I've tried low-end cameras where you use the LCD to frame shots and find it
cumbersome at best and useless at worse. Outdoors is impossible. Give me a
true SLR!
