Yes, GraphicConverter is an excellent programme (Mac anyway).

If you're on a Mac, you can do a lot with a shareware called
GraphicConverter. It can use Photoshop filters, open and convert any
picture format, do cropping, contrast, light and some
coulorbalancing. Use it as a free demo or pay a small amount. (There
might be a PC version too, I don't know.)
