The new Corvette Z06 is about as close to a true race car as you can find in
a production vehicle. In a recent magazine test they ran many of the top
high-performance sports cars on a race course, I forget where, and the
Corvette had the fastest lap times. It even beat the $240,000 Ferrari
Maranello. It does not win in many catagories but if all you care about is
getting around a road course quickly.... there's lot of go for the money.
You do not want to be involved in a front-end collision with one though as
the death rate in that circumstance is very high. /jnm

Vettes are strictly one person cars. I consider them
to be one step below pure racing cars (not a
disparaging remark just an observation) My personal
taste runs more to luxury sedans. I'd rather have a
Lincoln LS 8 than a vette but that's just me. Also
note how Tom omits his city mpg. I definitely believe
he might get 28mpg highway... he probably get 14mpg
city unless there is some device that shuts off
cylinders installed.
