I have no problem with this since I have a 4T and a 4 with T circuits, but still, why is there no "Off" knob? Would it take to much space? Not aesthetic enough? Electronics too complicated?

Setting the speed to "B" doesn't turn off the circuits, it only ensures the
meter will not come on if the shutter release button is pressed half way.
The OM-2S/3/4 circuits are always "on" unless you remove the batteries.
The OM-1/2 circuits are turned off (battery disconnected) when the switch
is in the "off" position.
