By using an OM-4Ti (or 3Ti) and the F280 flash; synchs up to 1/2000.

: Do you just resort to ND filters in open sunlight?

That's another option. In bright sunlight even 100 or 64 ASA is fast and
without filters you'ld need F11 or F16 to get speeds of 1/60 ~ 1/30.
And to get more control, setting the camera in manual mode and using a more
versatile flash (compared to the Olympus T flashes) with more auto apertures
or GN settings, like the Metz MZ-40, is recommended.
