For a laugh, go to Google Groups and search on "International Library of
Photography".
Look at some of the comments on this outfit over the past 4-5 years. One
guy had his photo appear at the ILP after "submitting" it into a contest at
a grocery store! Like I said, be careful what you do with your pictures.

Is this a company to be doing business with?
If these are the people I think they are, the answer is a resounding
"NO!"There are, in fact, a number of "International Library of ..." outfits,
all based in the same small town in Maryland, probably run by the same
people, and all selling the same basic thing; they want you to buy the book
your work will appear in.
Several years ago, in response to a query about the International Library of
Poetry, several members of the CompuServe Literary Forum got together and
wrote what may well be the worst poem ever written in English (or any other
language, for that matter), sent it in, and were informed (mirabile dictu!)
that this literary fewmet was so good the fine folks at the International
Library of Poetry were going to include it in their next anthology,
available for only some wildly inflated sum.
Truth is, they publish every poem they receive, in hopes of getting the
suckers to buy the book. It isn't quite a scam, in that there's nothing
illegal about it, but it comes damned close. I guess the real questions is,
did they offer to pay you for your work? My guess is they didn't. That's a
pretty good tip-off right there.

I believe you are absolutely right! I also receive a letter like that form
them. I never sent in the "Artist?s Release" form to give them my permission
to publish my photo. Then I get another promotional letter from them saying,
"Now that you have been published by the International Library of
Photography..." Basically so they could sell me "Official Press Credentials"
for the bargain price of $69.00 so they could see more of my great photos.
Yeah right, they should have considered the fact that my photo was a
portraiture, so why would I even want to be a Press member? Anyway, I went
out to their web page, and when I typed in my name, my photo came up with it
available in two different books that they are selling. Without my
permission.
What?s interesting is that I never even entered this photo in any of their
contests, I entered it in a contest at a local grocery store chain. My only
guess is that they sold my name, photo, and address to I.L.P. without my
knowledge.
I.L.P. remind me of those companies that were selling a book to High School
graduates who were honor role students. The books were sold for a very high
price, and only to the people featured in the book. It was a complete scam.
Basically that?s what I.L.P. is doing. They are selling books to only the
photographers featured in them. And making a lot of money doing it. Don?t
get sucked in!
