If you mean the little black specks, they're usually black paint chips.  Some 
1.4's are virtually impossible to disassemble -- if we can't them open easily, 
we've learned to let them be.  A little debris will not greatly affect image 
quality anyway,  but it may provide a "starting place" for fungus.  Clean it if 
it's easy, but if not, use it 'till it dies.

If you're seeing white bubbles, we've noted that for years on some 1.4's -- 
never found out for sure why it happens, but never have noticed any degradation 
of image quality, though it's not very attrractive (I've used one of these for 
almost 20 years!).  Again, use it 'till it dies....
