A friend of mine is using Viewscan and had the very same problem. We finally
figured the following out: if you enter something like "c:\scans\xyz01+" in
the field "TIFF file name", then Viewscan will replace the "01" with
consecutive numbers as you scan more and more files, giving you xyz01.tif,
xyz02.tif, xyz03.tif, etc., all in c:\scans. You won't get very informative
file names that way, but your old files will not be overwritten.
