[OM] 50/2 macro question

I recently took a chance and picked up a 50/2 MC made in Japan for a
very good price. The glass looks good but the lens was pretty dirty and
had a few dings in the black paint, only cosmetic though. All in all
after a cleaning it will be a good solid ex- (better than bargin) and
I'm eager to try it out this weekend. I cleaned it up with a clean
cotton handkerchief to get off the superficial grime. So now what to I
do? Should I clean further with the handkerchief dampened with alcohol?
I'd like to restore the white lettering to a bright state and clean up
the focusing rubber grip. Also there seems to be a bit of dirt in the
focusing mechanism. What's the best way to clean this out short of
dismantling? It's hardly enough to notice so I'll leave it alone if it's
a big job. I notice that when the lens is extended to maximum the rear
element retracts and you can see right into the inside, do I dare try to
vacuum or blow this out?
