A tip for usage of the shift lenses with the OM-1[n]. (This may apply to
the OM-2[n] when used in manual mode also.) The lens has a meter biasing
tab, but it does not rotate with the aperture ring as it does in the auto
lenses because metering is performed with the lens stopped down. With the
OM-1[n], allow the meter to settle down for a few seconds after stopping
the lens down, then set the aperture and shutter speed. Metering will be
accurate if you do so. The type of meter cell used in the OM-1[n] has a
"memory" that takes a few seconds to dissipate after stop-down. (This is a
function of the cell technology used and is common with cameras from its era.)

Anyhow, large format is a little too much for him. He merely requires
pictures for reference. You know the kind where if he sees an interesting
building, he'll pull out his camera and take a picture, rather than
detailed meticulous preparation as large format would entail. Anyway
since he already has an OM1, the 35mm shift will meet his needs perfectly.
