Hi Jim.

Output of the charger is 475 mA for five batteries, which means 95 mA
per battery. The capacity of the original batteries is about 700 mAh,
so 8-10 hours of charging should be enough. The charging circuits are
very basic and oldfashioned, and you should take care not to
overcharge i.e. not charge longer than about 10 hours, and shorter if
the cells were not empty when you started.

I have replaced the cells in my batteries with modern NiMH cells with
larger capacity (1200mAh, they are even available with 1800mAh now).
Charging times should be correspondingly longer with the normal
charging circuits. I have rebuilt one of my chargers and put a more
modern circuit inside. Drawback is, that now I can charge only one of
the five batteries at a time and have to turn a switch manually after
each of the charging cycles. Overcharging is no longer possible
though, and that was my main issue...

Good luck, Frank.
