If the OM-2n does "eventually" "die" (I'm betting it won't for a long
time)... just get it repaired or get another one. They can be had now for
anywhere from $175 to $300 in perfectly good condition. You can't get
anything comparable new in that price range that isn't plastic. The OM-2n is
a CLASSIC, light yet ruggedly built, and a joy to use.

If I could afford it, I'd probably buy another, newer system. Most likely,
medium format. I don't even want to think about selling/trading away my OM
system just now. I'd still keep it for backup even if I "moved up".

Besides, in 35mm format, are the newer lenses THAT much better? A lot of
press is given to "computer-designed", "computer-assisted design", etc..
Computers are simply machines that are programmed by humans -- they are no
smarter than the people using them. I DO know that computer numerical
controlled machines can produce more consistent manufacturing results than
human-controlled machines -- I see that every day at work, all day long. But
do we know anything new about lens design that we didn't know in the 70's?
I'm no expert. But I'm skeptical that I could see any difference between
photos taken with comparable lenses from the 70's era and today's newest
offerings. Maybe in enlargements? List experts?
