Don't think this is planned obsolesence. These parts, from what I
understand from John H's post, were about 20 yrs old. Not bad for keeping
parts around.

Actually, I wouldn't say 'too bad for Olympus' .
Instead of being able to supply repair parts, why not throw away all the
parts for the older OMs, and 'force' all of us to buy a brand new OM-4T or
-3T!
Lots more profit there!

Hello boys and girls, can you say- "Planned Obsolesence"?

George S.

They could have made more money than a tax write-off would avail them if
they sold them on Ebay or to shops that John H. They could have given them
to such shops and take a royalty on the sales even. Would have been easy
money. Just goes to show you that Olympus can be a bit stupid. You know,
here in Canada, they have no office anymore. So parts take forever. A
local store that sells Olympus digital cameras had to order a lens adapter
for the 3040 (so you can attach lens to it). Took 4 months to get here.
Many other such problems, which is why Nikon's dig cams are really
outselling Olympus ones here in Ottawa (apparently). Too bad for Olympus I
guess.....
