Mea Culpa.  You're right; forgot about that one.  Change that to:
"one of the most expensive 'fixed focal length' miniature P&S cameras, only exceeded by the $1100 Ricoh GR-21."

Looking at their specs, the only thing I can think of is their respective marketing departments are chasing after those who want "status symbol wrist jewelry" in the form of a camera. Almost up to the price of a Contax G2 kit with 45/2 Carl Zeiss Planar and TLA-200 flash.

Not a new concept, the original Contax T from the early 1980's was accused of this with its *ruby* shutter release button. It's a superb camera with exceptional optics, but it didn't *need* the ruby functionally.
