As a practical guideline, use the DoF markings on the lens as a guide. 
If you expect to enlarge a lot, use the markings for a wider aperture.
E.G., if you expect to make a huge print from a photo at f/8, use the DoF 
markings for f/4 - or less.  This is especially important for hyperfocal 
photographs since there is often very fine detail on the horizon.

Does anyone know what Circle of Confusion Olympus used for its lenses' 
markings?
