You're all wusses. My wife married me on the 30th of December, 28 years ago,
after an engagement of a year during which she saw me about 14 days total
(basic training and tech school). A week after our wedding, we packed up all
our worldly possessions and moved from where we had both lived all our lives
(Seattle, it was probably a nice 45 degree day) to my first duty station...
GRAND FORKS, NORTH DAKOTA. En-route, the mercury dipped to below freezing as
soon as we crossed the Cascades into Eastern Washington, and we didn't see
the thawed side of freezing until LATE MARCH. It was a balmy -20 degrees
Fahrenheit when we arrived in Grand Forks. As I said, and I really wasn't
kidding, we truly did not see above freezing temperatures until late March.

My wife was used to being able to look out her parent's kitchen window on her
birthday (March 27) and seeing a dogwood budding/blooming. That first year
in Grand Forks, we had a blizzard on her birthday... "sweetheart, look what
I got you for your birthday, a new block heater for the car!!!!!"

Then there was summer... all two or three weeks of it. The mosquitos...

That she stayed married to me is miraculous.

Did I mention that her two favorite uncles, and her grandfather all died that
first year we were in North Dakota??

Sorry, I ramble.

Jim
