APS is a really neat system and it doesn't deserve to die or be trashed by
"serious 35mm photographers". It has many advantages and not only for
amateurs who can't load their 35mm P&S.

- the reduction of film size is well-balanced; not too much so that print
quality suffers but big enough to allow a dramatic reduction in camera size.
Ever seen the Canon ixus, or compared the Olympus Centurion to the Olympus
iS-300? Besides when the APS system was introduced new film emulsions were
released to reduce grain.

Isn't the Canon IXUS a digital camera and not APS? That makes the comparison kind of unfair. Some of the APS point and shoot cameras are tiny like those ELPH cameras, but the 35mm Stylus Epic, as well designed as it is, is smaller than many are really comfortable with. And many of us have heard the same argument for smaller film size from the half frame crowd before, experienced the reality of it, and the sense of deja vú is overwhelming even with the little techno features that seem more "gee whiz" than practical.

I am glad that you are happy with yours, though. :-)
