I have a early 'eighties single coated 24mm 2.8 and a 28mm 2.8 (all of which
were multicoated).

I bought the 28 as a cheap way to try to assess whether to switch my SC 24 for
an MC version.

I have tried to do some comparisons with the two. Bear in mind that the 24 has
an extra element which will cause some extra flare.

I've found that the 28mm is the sharper of the two, with less flare, and more
contrast when shooting into the light. With the light behind they are pretty
well indistinguishable.

Into the light the 24 shows distinct blue aperture images (which is sometimes
nice in the picture, sometimes not). The same shot with the 28 shows virtually
none.

I think that the MC of the 28 has quite a definite effect. The smaller number
of elements will also have some effect.

On balance I am looking to eventually sell both and get an MC 24mm, as I have
always found it to be a good focal length.
