My OM-1n has the same behaviour. I suspect, in my case, that the ASA dial
has "slipped" and now shows the wrong setting. At one time ASA 400 shows on
the 1n as ASA 50, the next time as ASA 1600. My guess it's mechanical and
fixable for $50 or so (haven't had the money for that myself yet )
