Whoops! I definitely know the difference, but I wrote incident when I meant
reflected.
I don't think William Henry Jackson shot 20x24. The plates would have been
horribly bulky, very fragile, and almost impossible to coat and develop. You
can get six 8x10s out of a 20x24 sheet. I'm pretty sure that's the size he used
when wandering the West.
However... Jackson did take at least 900 pictures using "mammoth plates" as
large as 18x22. Most were taken near railroad lines, which would eliminate the
problems of schlepping the equipment in a small wagon or on a burro.
