I think the keywords are "...cameras in the hands of a photographer who
knows how to use them...", more than the exact features of the camera....

Actually, I think different - but maybe that's just me. The only thing
that can make me jump into auto-mode on any of the cameras I own which
have such a mode, is if I am using a flash and feel that TTL-flash might
be sufficient. Otherwise, I actually find that I "think too much" trying
to keep track of what the camera does. In fully-manual, I just "do", and
can concentrate more on the "creativity"....

Hmm....well, we all have our ways of using the gear. I guess I developed
my manual-everything habit early on. The first camera I got with
"auto", then, was the OM2s/p, where spot-metering only is possible in
manual mode. So I got into the habit of prefering manual-mode, and I keep
doing so today, even on the OM4....

I guess it all depends - not everyone have to be as conservative as I ;)
