>From all the messages and photos I've seen ther seem
to be three types of people interested in cameras

1: Collectors- those nutcases who swap shrinkwrapped
boxes and have no interest in actually using a camera
to take pictures. Cameras are something 'to complete
your collection' or 'an investment'.

2: Enthusiasts/Ametures- Most of the general
population falls into this broad category. Most in
this category salivate over the collectors cameras but
aspire to go up into the third category. Caring about
both the picture but also the camera are important (in
varying proportions of course) to this group. I would
guess most of the OM list (inluding me) would fall
into this category.

3: Artist/Photographer- A small category of which
Ansel Adams represents the ideal in most cases. Cares
far more about the picture than the camera that took
the picture. Camera is merely a tool to getting the
picture.

I feel that it's alright to be a camera buff just so
long as you don't lose sight of the purpose of what
all this stuff is supposed to be used for. If that
happens your on the road to collecting shrinkwrapped
Leicas that commemorate everthing from the 10,000th
changing of the guard in front of Buckingham palace to
the first word of the Nigerian PM daughter (one of
only 50 made!). ;)
