Ball Heads:
My vote here is for the Bogen/Manfrotto 308QR
Just bought my second one and trying for a 3rd.
Smooth phenolic ball, easy lock,
QR plates are OK, good safety and=20
it works even with my humongous
Sigma XA 500/8 on the OM 2n, and
my OM !n with W2 and the 200/4 Zuik.
Price at Penn Camera in DC - $48
(maybe less through B&H)
extra plates are about $10... and
yes, I have used others (Cambo,
Leitz) for 30 years. Just can't see
putting the price of another body
into an exotic ball head.
Avoid the squeeze grip types IMNSHO.
