I dont know how to convert to F but here is what I found by placing
a winder, and the oil and grease in the freezer ( -30 degrees C)

The Polydimethylsiloxane didnt seem to change at all at -30C,
remaining the same as the water like substance at room tempurature,
I would therefore say this is fine to use at -30C and a lot lower. The
Molykote showed the biggest difference, becoming more like car
grease but still very workable. The big test, ripping the winder out
of the bag, straight on to the OM2n, then straight off and put the
warm winder on, I could only just hear the difference (used the
same batterys for both), the frozen winder warmed up very quickly,
as when I swapped this back on I couldnt hear any difference at all,
I would put this down to the friction heat as well as the minimal heat
from the power transistor controlling the motor. It therefore appears
to have taken very little to bring the Molykote back to its full sticky
but creamy lubricate consistancy.

Using the winder straight out of the freezer is miles ahead better
than it was before a cleaned and lubbed it :-)

Molykote is a oily like substance and white in color, its hard to
equate it to something else, I also use it to lubricate the rails in
Computer Scanners, though it is formulated to be used in
Automatic teller machines (ATM's), it sticks very well, without
dripping and yet remains very soft and its lubricating qualities
are excellent. I guess you could call it a "magnetic" light grease.

When choosing between two evils, pick the one you haven't tried before
