The low/high contrast resolution numbers for Provia 100F are 60/140
lines/mm. I know Velvia's high contrast resolution number is 200 lines/mm.
Therefore, Velvia clearly has the highest resolving power of all the
transparency emulsions. Provia 100F enjoys the lowest RMS granularity
figure.
The real question here appears to be: what is sharpness? The best answer I
ever saw came from prolific photo writer and photographer Michael Freeman.
Freeman defined sharpness as a SUBJECTIVE quality that arises from four
OBJECTIVE factors: resolution, contrast, granularity and acutance (or
roughly edge sharpness).
